Sir Alistair Horne was born in London and educated in Switzerland and Cambridge. Part of MI5 in WWII, he was later foreign correspondent at The Daily Telegraph from 1952-5. His books have been translated into over 10 languages and he has been awarded various prizes including Hawthornden (for The Price Of Glory) and Wolfson (for A Savage War Of Peace). He is also the author of The Seven Ages of Paris. He has a Doctor of Literature from Cambridge and founded the Alistair Horne Research Fellowship in Modern History at Oxford. Alistair was awarded Chevalier, Légion d'Honneur and was knighted in 2003 (Queen's birthday honours) for services to Franco-British relations.
